1976 - 1999


  • Ended the year with natural gas and oil properties in the Southwest (Permian and MidContinent), Gulf Coast and Appalachian regions of the United States.  In September 1999, Range and FirstEnergy Corp. contributed their Appalachian natural gas and oil properties to Great Lakes Energy Partners L.L.C. with each have a 50% interest in the venture.


  • Merger with Domain Energy Corporation for $162 million comprised of $50 million in cash and $111 million of common stock.  Domain’s principle assets were natural gas and oil operations onshore Gulf Coast and in the Gulf of Mexico.  Name changed to Range Resources Corporation.


  • Acquisition of American Cometra for $385 million with properties in the Permian basin and the Gulf Coast which more than doubled our total assets.


  • Snyder Oil Corporation sold its remaining shares of stock in Lomak.


  • Headquarters moved to Fort Worth.


  • Adopted long-term strategy to pursue acquisition of a critical mass of producing properties and install operating hubs in several geographic regions.  Over the next ten years completed $988 million of acquisitions.


  • Lomak Petroleum was acquired by Snyder Oil Company in Fort Worth with 50% of Lomak stock distributed to Snyder Oil Company stockholders.


  • Lomak Petroleum, predecessor of Range Resources, was founded in 1976 and began drilling wells in Ohio while building an acreage position in the Appalachian Basin.
