The safe development of clean-burning natural gas continues to create widespread economic benefits for communities, especially community small and medium-sized businesses in the industry supply chain. Our company has a proud record of working with local businesses across our areas of operation. This maximizes shared benefits and helps to improve local employment through a comprehensive Contractor Management Plan. This procurement system identifies and engages local companies and individuals to support our operations. Range hosts regular open houses for existing and potential local sourcing partners. The company has also helped lead several grassroots efforts to enhance local employment and economic growth opportunities, including service as a founding member of the Tri-County Oil and Gas Expo in southwestern Pennsylvania, where the majority of Range’s current development activities take place.
We value local business partnerships, and support thousands of local companies throughout our operations. Natural gas is benefiting manufacturers and business across the United States, through affordable energy costs and increased demand of certain products. We make every attempt possible to work with companies and vendors who are local to where our work is as well as domestically based companies.
For example, we make every attempt to purchase and utilize domestic steel for our operations. Range has a strong and longstanding working relationship with U. S. Steel who historically has provided nearly all of our well casing, which is manufactured here in the United States. Range is fully committed to purchase domestically produced steel whenever possible.
We have also partnered with a variety of public and private institutions, including the US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration’s ShaleNET program, to foster workforce training initiatives and spur local hiring. Our efforts, and those industry-wide, are succeeding. We also work with existing state and national industry organizations on workforce development programs.
