Range’s Commitment to Human Rights and Socially Responsible Business Operations

Day in and day out, every decision we make as a business is guided by our core values – Performance, Innovation, Integrity and Transparency.  With these values as the backbone of our corporate culture, we work tirelessly to act as a responsible steward to our employees, communities and stakeholders who rely on us.

These core values extend to our respect for human rights throughout our business operations and our conduct.  We have policies and follow processes and procedures to identify and prevent potential human rights impacts pertaining to our employees, our supply chain and individuals in the communities where we work.

As an oil and gas producer operating solely in the United States, we comply with all applicable federal and state laws related to human rights and labor rights and, while we do not operate internationally, as a United States company our approach to human rights is consistent with the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the International Labor Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

While we recognize that governments have primary responsibility to protect human rights in their jurisdictions, we believe that companies also have a significant responsibility to ensure human rights are respected. At Range, we take this responsibility seriously, and we commit to avoid adverse human rights impacts and to mitigate any potential adverse impacts arising from or connected to our operations and business relationships.

Adherence to human rights laws is driven by the work of several departments within our organization, including our legal, human resources, vendor management, and safety teams.  These principles are reflected in our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and our Vendor Hiring Standards, which are both publicly available on our website. This is promoted and communicated by our management team internally and externally. It is the expectation of our Board and senior management that all Range employees support these principles, and we expect our vendors, contractors, suppliers, and business partners to adhere to human rights standards.

In an effort to ensure compliance, all Range employees receive training on the company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics on an annual basis. Range management monitors compliance with these policies, and violations by Range employees may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment.

Range is committed to providing all employees, contractors, and others who are on Company property with a safe, sanitary and secure environment. Accordingly, all personnel will comply with all health, environmental and other applicable regulatory statutes, safety laws and regulations, as well as all Range policies governing health, environment and safety. In accordance with our Health and Safety policies and procedures, employees and contractors are expected and authorized to stop work or refuse to work due to health and safety concerns.

Range is committed to maintaining appropriate security in Company premises to protect our workforce and assets. We oppose any form of forced labor, human trafficking, and child labor, and we abide by all relevant laws and regulations which prevent such practices. We expect our vendors, contractors, and suppliers to adhere to the same standards.

Indigenous Peoples

While we do not have any operations on lands of indigenous peoples, First Peoples, or First Nations, we are committed to respecting the culture, history and customs of indigenous peoples. We commit to act in accordance with applicable laws and to consult with local community leaders and residents, should our activities affect any areas of importance to such people.

Our activities do not involve any involuntary settlement of people or of their economic activities. Should any operations have the potential for involuntary resettlement, we are committed to assessing, avoiding, and mitigating any human rights impacts, through community engagement programs, grievance mechanisms, and fair compensation and livelihood restoration, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Grievance Mechanisms

Range has contracted the services of an independent third-party operated reporting system called Ethicspoint, which utilizes both web-based and phone features, as a means for anonymous reporting by its employees, external stakeholders and members of the public. Any reports involving financial fraud or conduct by senior management are provided directly to the members of the Audit Committee of the Board.

Range has chosen to use this system to further enhance our reporting of human resources issues, such as harassment or violations of other policies, including our human rights policy. Ethicspoint manages the reporting system, and they are contractually bound to ensure reports are kept confidential unless reporters choose to make their identity known. Unless of a nature warranting notice to the Audit Committee of the Board, reports are first reviewed by our Vice President of Human Resources and certain designated members of our Legal team to determine the appropriate steps to handle each inquiry.

The Ethicspoint system is designed to exclude from the process anyone who may be involved directly with the issue reported so that a full and independent investigation can be conducted. To file a report, employees and other stakeholders may access the Ethicspoint website at www.ethicspoint.com and click on “File a Report” or call Ethicspoint’s toll-free hotline at 1-866-384-4277.
